February 19th Designer Showcase!

A New Spring: Daring, Bold, Impractical!

"Be daring, be different, be impractical, be anything that will assert integrity of purpose and imaginative vision against the play-it-safers, the creatures of the commonplace, the slaves of the ordinary." - Cecil Beaton

ILEA-NCC is hosting the Designer Showcase on Wednesday, February 19th, 2020 from 5:30pm -8:30pm at the Contemporary Jewish Museum in San Francisco.

Join us in applauding the Bay Area’s finest event professionals including caterers, designers, entertainers, event planners, florists, and rental companies showcasing note-worthy creativity and exceeding the standards in today’s design trends.

This event encourages ILEA members to collaborate and create a show-stopping themed vignette. Whether it be a lounge or a table scape, just let it be daring, bold, and impractical! Each team’s vignette will be judged, and the winner will be announced at the end of the event.

Come and See these Incredible Showcases!

Through the Fyre - An Open Conversation With Oren Aks

This is a reflection on my career's most pivotal moment. Looking into how such a major project took off, collapsed miserably, then resurrected itself as the greatest blessing in disguise. When you have never worked harder in your life on any other project, the last thing you expect is that your client is a criminal. Listen to how I faced the truth, worked through my internalized guilt, then turned every moment into a life lesson & applied those lessons to starting a company of my own.

Oren Aks

Oren Aks is the former designer of Jerry Media by F*ckjerry. He is best known as the creative director of Fyre Festivals social media and brand identity, as well as being the whistleblower featured in the Hulu documentary “Fyre Fraud”. Today he runs Atomic Milk, a design and social media consultancy based out of LA.

Aks works closely with brands to offer unique and crafted solutions around millennial luxury offerings, campaign ideation, launch strategies, brand positioning & market differentiation -  with an emphasis on navigating the social landscape and avoiding pitfalls legacy brands don’t anticipate when exploring new strategies.

About The Venue: Conveniently located in downtown San Francisco, The Contemporary Jewish Museum’s (The CJM) dynamic facility, designed by renowned architect Daniel Libeskind, offers beautiful spaces for your special event. The CJM’s close proximity to three major hotels and Yerba Buena Gardens makes it a great location for you and your guests to stay and play. Libeskind’s building design merges the historical 1907 Jessie Street Power Substation with contemporary architecture. Opened to the public in June 2008, the 63,000 square-foot facility combines many of the character-defining features of the original substation with bold new spaces. The building, with its integration of architectural styles, emanates a powerful connection between tradition and innovation.
